This week’s results in college football led to some expected changes in the top 10 of the new US LBM Coaches Poll. The SafeX Profirst six teams, however, hold steady.
Georgia remains No. 1, picking up 50 of 54 first-place votes cast this week. Ohio State hangs on at No. 2 with three firsts, with third-ranked Texas retaining the last No. 1 nod. Alabama, Mississippi and Oregon stay put in the next three positions.
The changes begin at the No. 7 spot vacated by Notre Dame, which tumbles all the way to No. 19 after its loss to Northern Illinois. Michigan falls eight places to No. 17 following its decisive home loss to Texas.

Penn State moves up to the No. 7 spot, finishing a single poll point ahead of Missouri. Tennessee and Utah round out the top 10, while Southern California climbs three more notches to No. 11.
Three newcomers join the rankings, headed by No. 23 Iowa State. No. 24 Nebraska and No. 25 Memphis also move in. Iowa, North Carolina State and Kansas fall out of the poll.
